Senior Network Engineer

•The Network Engineer designs, implements, configures, troubleshoots, analyzes and supports Acxiom's networks.
•They are responsible for maintaining network stability, hardware and software.
•They monitor Acxiom network(s) to ensure network availability to all system users.
•Implements, configures, analyzes and supports Acxiom's internal data communications systems which may include the local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Internet system or network system segment(s).
•Designs network solutions with internal Acxiom teams and external clients based on need and capabilities.
•Provides change management.
•Maintains computer networks and related computing environments including cable plants, wiring and all other computer hardware, systems software, applications software and configurations.
•Coordinates with vendors for installations that may include routers, concentrators and switches.
•Performs Network disaster recovery operations.
•Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, or other network and system problems and replaces defective components when necessary.
•Provides real time escalation response for support issues.
•Provides incident management.
•Creates and maintains metrics on network performance.
•Acts as focal point for all network reviews.
•Monitors network performance, determines whether adjustments should to be made and makes suggestions for improvements.
•Conducts performance engineering for complex cross functional network related projects.
•Keeps informed in latest industry news, trends, products, services, competitors and relevant existing and emerging technologies.
•Maintains integrity and relevance of systems data and network management tools.
•Evaluates new products.
•Provides network training and assists with proposal writing.
•Conducts project planning and implementation, cost analysis and vendor comparisons.
•Documents hardware specifications and data communication circuit ordering information and asset management.
•Oversees the acquisition and administration of maintenance contracts.
Required skills:
•Expert level network troubleshooting experience in large-scale IP environments
•Knowledge of and demonstrated operating experience in more than one of the following technologies:
 o LAN/MAN/WAN design
 o Frame Relay
 o MPLS
 o VoIP
 o QoS
 o Optical networking
 o Wireless
 o VPN and remote access
•Knowledge of Network management, network availability, and capacity planning
•Knowledge of and experience with routers, switches, and VPN concentrators (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Nortel (Bay) Networks, etc.)
•Knowledge of and experience with voice and media systems (e.g., Avaya Definity/Intuity, Cisco Telepresence, etc.)
•Knowledge of and experience with security systems (e.g., Cisco PIX/ASA, Check Point, IronPort, Blue Coat, etc.)
•Knowledge in LAN/WAN network support, firewall support, management, availability, and troubleshooting
•Knowledge of CA IT Management tools
•5 - 7 years experience with Check Point or Cisco security solutions
•Demonstrated technical knowledge and consultative skills
•Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills
•Strong problem solving skills (e.g., ability to assess a problem and determine an effective course of action)
•Ability to work effectively with others and add value as a team member

Nice to have skills:
•Desired Skills and Experience 5-7 years Network Engineering with CCIE Cisco certification
•Load balance expertise (Gss,Ace,F5)
•Wireless, Cisco Nexus Platform

The network management engineer also assists in defining and creating standards and processes in the network management &amp; monitoring disciplines with the primary goal of maximizing network availability.


Required skills:
*In depth experience with processes used to manage and monitor complex network environments
*Managing &amp; monitoring of network components such as routers, switches, firewalls, proxy and load balancers
*Managing &amp; monitoring of network services such as VoIP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, VPN etc
*Automation
*Configuration Management as it pertains to device configs and backups
*In depth experience with tools used to manage and monitor complex network environments such as HP OpenView/NNM, CA Spectrum, CA eHealth, CA NetQoS, NetCool, CiscoWorks, etc
*SNMP v1, v2c &amp; v3 MIBs &amp; Traps
*Understand network topologies and designs
*Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production network environment support
*Team player
*Knowledge of Unix and Windows troubleshooting commands (traceroute, netstat, nbstat etc)
*Familiarity of ITIL incident/problem/change management principles
*Customer service experience
*Scripting/programing skills

Nice to have skills:
*Valid CCNP, CCIP, CCIE, CISSP, LTM-E certifications
*Knowledge on network documentation standards
*In depth knowledge with CA Service Assurence tools (Spectrum / eHealth / CASD etc)
*Radius / TACACS / Cisco ACS
*Analysis and diagnosis of packet captures
*Microsoft Office Applications

·    Strong Network technology skills including routing &amp; switching protocols, MPLS, VPN etc.
·    Industry certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP etc).
·    Experience in F5 BigIP, Cisco ACE, Cisco PIX, Checkpoint/Nokia Firewall, Network management principles and tools, converged network technologies
·    Good communication skills,
·    Proven ability to multi-task
·    Experience working in a fast pace environment

Desired Skills:
·    Understanding and knowledge of Remedy, CA Service Desk or another ticketing system, ITIL v3 principles &amp; practices.
